A west Edmonton church selling more than 1,000 new wedding dresses at discounted prices last week pulled in a record amount in sales.
A generous donation from a wholesaler who recently downsized allowed the Spirit West United Church to sell the dresses.
Event organizer Betty Marshall tells CTV News they sold about 300 dresses and made $29,000.
Money raised from the sale will fund the church and local organizations it supports.
The gowns, which typically retail for more than $1,000, were priced from $100 to $300 for the three-day sale.
Marshall says the remaining wedding dresses may get donated to a group that sends them overseas to women who can't afford to buy their own.
